Call of Duty®: Mobile Review

about

Micah Beaumont

Call of Duty has always been the #1 war, shooter. Since 2019, you can play it on iOS and Android. Despite the shrunk size and smaller screens, it delivers the atmosphere of the original CoD multiplayer.

Gameplay Overview

It’s the right Call of Duty multiplayer. Join a team, step on the familiar map, and shoot your opponents until the mission is complete – yours or theirs. There is no storyline; the developers focused on the most attractive part – multiplayer. As you win more, you advance to new levels, unlock new weapons and stuff, and face stronger opponents.
Along with traditional team contest, there is a Battle Royale mode on a map that resembles both Modern Warfare and Black Ops. It’s a solo game: the last man standing wins. Being similar to PUBG rather than Fortnite, it still feels like Call of Duty, with its bullets, grenades, hideaways, and danger all around.

Graphics Quality

Old Call of Duty players will recognize familiar locations, like Nuketown, made with all detail and precision. Just as impressive are the characters with their moves and looks, weapons, shots and explosions, and stuff. Sounds are close to the origins too. The overall quality is just the top of today’s gaming.

Replayability

Like in “bigger” versions, in Call of Duty: Mobile, you unlock new weapons, ammunition, and gadgets as you progress. That means hardly you will find it fun to start again. But all you have to do is register and connect your Facebook, Google, or Apple account. As for matching, it’s always made according to your current level. You’re never outgunned by those more advanced, but there is always a reason to progress.

Controls

Call of Duty Mobile supports both touch inputs and gamepads. On iOS, you can connect Xbox gamepad, DualShock, and other certified devices. On Android, there are more generic ones compatible. When matching, the system considers your inputs and selects you, mates and opponents, using the same inputs. You can also select options like AutoRun, Aim Assist, and so on, but they won’t bring any advantage.

The Most Modern Warfare

The mobile version of Call of Duty was long overdue – proven by its success. It’s one of the most elaborate military action games, with both visuals and controls quite console-level. Being multiplayer only, it’s no rival to console versions with story mode and various settings. But the way it is, it’s one of the best shooters around.

Highly rated for:

  • Fantastic visuals;
  • Advanced weapons and ammunition system;
  • Always millions of players online;
  • Well-balanced matching system;
  • Free unless you want Battle Pass.
