Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, has initiated the process of unveiling three potential new creatures for the popular game in preparation for the upcoming Minecraft Live event in mid-October. As per tradition, the developer will let the community vote to determine which of the three mobs will be added to the game. The first of these creatures, a crab, has been revealed.
Despite the seemingly late consideration for the crab, it could be the next addition to Minecraft, depending on the results of the community vote where it competes against two other mobs. The crab is known to inhabit mangrove swamp biomes and offers players the ability to use its large claw to place blocks from a distance. While there's no mention of its potential as a food source, it's likely to be a delicious option.
Details about the remaining two mobs will be disclosed in the upcoming days. The mob vote is scheduled to begin on October 13 at 18:00 BST / 19:00 CEST and will conclude approximately 48 hours later. The winning mob will be announced during the Minecraft Live event on October 15, 2023.
